Biography

Spike Lee is one of American cinema's most politically engaged and stylistically daring directors, a filmmaker whose work has consistently confronted racism, police brutality, and the Black American experience. Do the Right Thing (1989) — still his most discussed film — is an incendiary, heartbreaking masterwork that divided and galvanized audiences. BlacKkKlansman won him the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Lee's influence on visual style, particularly his famous 'floating dolly' shot, has permeated popular culture.
