Sony's revival of the classic late-90s B-movie franchise delivers exactly what it promises: giant snakes, tropical mayhem, and Paul Rudd being charming in a situation that absolutely does not call for charm. Much better than it has any right to be.
Big Snakes, Bigger Fun
Rebooting the Anaconda franchise in 2025 was either supreme confidence or institutional delusion and director Jade Bartlett's result leans firmly toward confidence. The film knows exactly what it is: a creature feature with modern production values, committed performances, and a tone that keeps winking at the audience without fully breaking the tension. Paul Rudd plays the expedition's scientific lead with the same irresistibility that's always defined him the sense that he's the smartest person in the room who is completely unwilling to stop being pleasant about it.
"Stupid fun, but knowing stupid fun Anaconda delivers consistent entertainment and surprisingly good snake CGI."
 AV ClubThe Verdict
A perfectly calibrated B-movie that punches exactly as hard as it intends to. Critics were underwhelmed; $193M global suggests audiences disagreed. Sometimes the snake wins.
